Still here; hopefully soon elsewhere too

Since I last posted here, I lost my job, miraculously was offered another, moved from the Northwest to the Midwest again, and discovered that I have troubling Anglo-Catholic tendencies. There’s plenty to say to the kind of people who might read this blog, and I do mean to write here again.

For now, I leave just one brief note. God willing, this month I begin a new project: my self-education, my study of the literature I have always hungered to read and been dying to craft.

I’m the boy perhaps nine years of age who needed to write (clutching his precious copy of The Elements of Style, 3rd ed.) all grown up into the 30-something should-be man, having hardly dug into books at all. For reasons I’ve never heard of outside of my own growing up, I want to write—I’ve always wanted to write since I discovered that book—and yet I hardly read. Find me one other case like this in all of history.

Or, you can follow along with this case. I hope to start a new site this month and to record my thoughts, ideas, observations, and progress in this weird effort. If you would like to read that, I’d be delighted to make your acquaintance. Leave a comment with your email address (it’s not shared publicly) or email me if you have my own address, and I’ll send the link to you when the site is up.
